Week 26 physics

Monday we started back up with work and energy. We talked more about the two topics so we can get refresh our memories after break. We said that energy could be Gravity, kinetic, or elastic. It also can be transferred or stored. Then we talked about work. Work is the force that you use to move something in the director of the force. If you throw a pen up and it moves upward then that is work, but when it falls down it is not work because earth is acting on it. We also talked about power. And power is based on rate and speed. The power formula is energy/time. We did a lab to calculate power. How you should calculate power is by using the gravational formula (mgh) and plugging your numbers in and your can substitute that for your energy. Then you put that over the time it took you to complete task. During this week we did a lab where we had to run, walk, or jog three flights of stairs. We did this to calculate our power and find out who was the most powerful in the class. We had to find out our mass, time, and the height of the stairs. We multiplied the mass, g-field, and the height and we divided it by the time and we got our power. Steve was the most powerful. And i was the second most powerful on the class We reviewed for our assessment on Thursday so we could make sure we knew everything On friday we took the test and overall i think i did pretty well because i felt as i knew what i was talking about.

Week 24 physics cardboard boat regatta

1. This boat races was all about how you row and the foundation of you did have a strong foundation or it was to short water could get in and the boat would not have done well at all. It had to be strong enough to support two people and its self and still have to move across the water

2. I think to stay above water it would have had to have a solid foundation and be stable enough to for people to row in it.

3. The lowest center of mass is most stable complies with the boat because in the boats, you shouldnt have had someone that weight is very low but matches the other rower because it would throw things off if you had a bad center of mass and it would tip.

4. Are boat didn't have any problems floating. Our boat was able to float the whole time because it was very wide and Strong and tall. But the wideness actually was both good and bad. The inside was so wide that our rowers were falling all over the boat. I think we should have used a better Technique. The boat made the full lap but it took a min for them to get the Technique down.

5. think the best rowing Technique was if they where rowing at the same rate. At a constant rate and at a good speed would have been key and to get the boat to turn only one person has to row.

6. would have made the boat more water dynamic so it would easily float and glide through the water. And that would make the boat faster and stronger.
