Week 26 physics

Monday we started back up with work and energy. We talked more about the two topics so we can get refresh our memories after break. We said that energy could be Gravity, kinetic, or elastic. It also can be transferred or stored. Then we talked about work. Work is the force that you use to move something in the director of the force. If you throw a pen up and it moves upward then that is work, but when it falls down it is not work because earth is acting on it. We also talked about power. And power is based on rate and speed. The power formula is energy/time. We did a lab to calculate power. How you should calculate power is by using the gravational formula (mgh) and plugging your numbers in and your can substitute that for your energy. Then you put that over the time it took you to complete task. During this week we did a lab where we had to run, walk, or jog three flights of stairs. We did this to calculate our power and find out who was the most powerful in the class. We had to find out our mass, time, and the height of the stairs. We multiplied the mass, g-field, and the height and we divided it by the time and we got our power. Steve was the most powerful. And i was the second most powerful on the class We reviewed for our assessment on Thursday so we could make sure we knew everything On friday we took the test and overall i think i did pretty well because i felt as i knew what i was talking about.

Week 24 physics cardboard boat regatta

1. This boat races was all about how you row and the foundation of you did have a strong foundation or it was to short water could get in and the boat would not have done well at all. It had to be strong enough to support two people and its self and still have to move across the water

2. I think to stay above water it would have had to have a solid foundation and be stable enough to for people to row in it.

3. The lowest center of mass is most stable complies with the boat because in the boats, you shouldnt have had someone that weight is very low but matches the other rower because it would throw things off if you had a bad center of mass and it would tip.

4. Are boat didn't have any problems floating. Our boat was able to float the whole time because it was very wide and Strong and tall. But the wideness actually was both good and bad. The inside was so wide that our rowers were falling all over the boat. I think we should have used a better Technique. The boat made the full lap but it took a min for them to get the Technique down.

5. think the best rowing Technique was if they where rowing at the same rate. At a constant rate and at a good speed would have been key and to get the boat to turn only one person has to row.

6. would have made the boat more water dynamic so it would easily float and glide through the water. And that would make the boat faster and stronger.

Week 19 physics

On the first day we finished up are labs that we start friday period vs. radius. What we found out is thats there is a constant increase so its a constant velocity. After we saw all of this we then presented the rest of the hour. One the next day we took note to day to prepare are selves for tomorrows practice assessment. On the third day we given six problems in each group to answer or solve the problems as a group. After everyone finished we white boarded are answers and presented them in class the reason for this was to get everyone on the same page. So we all know the answers on the assessment. On the fourth day we took a practice assessment as a class. Each group was given a question. And had to answer it and then present are answers to the class. Also mr abude did a presentation where he put a quarter in a balloon was the inertia to continue its path. The reason for this is to give use ideas of how we use this in are day to day life

Week 18 physics

On the first day we talked about how the final went for us. We asked the question what could we have done to get a better grade. I wished i would have study more and got a better grade. The reason for this was so we can know how too study and what to study next time. Then we got are new seats. After that we talked a car going in a circle path and all the different things you can measure while it goes in the circle. And how they compare reason for this is so we can measure things going in a circular path. We learn about periods revolutions and circumference. On the next day we had to finish up a lab that we started yesterday the lab was a battery powered car with a string attached the point of lab was to measure the cars speed in a circular motion. The way we did this by measuring Diameter over time. This was so we can find the speed of a object going in a circular motion. After we all know the speed if the different cars we white boarded are data and explained it to the class this was to make sure everyone was on track. On the third day we talked about the Tension in the string. And how to measure the tension in something and rather or not the tension is constant or not. On the last day we took are asessement overall i think i did well
